Former Resident Dies at Oak, Nebr. July 15
LaVerne R. Hutchinson of Oak, Nebr., former resident of Harrison, died July 5 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. He had suffered a stroke on July 3. The funeral service was held July 8 at the Oak Community church.
He was born Nov. 25, 1910, at Carson City, N.D. The family later moved to Fairfield, Nebr., where he attended school. He later moved to Harrison and worked for his brother-in-law Frank Lacy at the Ford Garage. He married Dorothy Barnes of Harrison in 1939 and they had three children, Juanita, Paul and Rose Marie.
The family spent about two years in Oregon before returning to Harrison. They moved to eastern Nebraska in 1945 where he owned and operated a blacksmith shop for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, daughters Juanita Walker of Oklahoma and Rose Marie Chapman of Fremont, Nebr., and son Paul Hutchinson of Superior, Nebr.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Hunter and Opal Lacy of Casper, Wyo.; brothers Vick and Arbor Hutchinson and a half brother Neil McDowell; and his mother Mrs. Ada Wiloughby.
Those attending the funeral from Harrison were Mr. and Mrs. Ivol Buckley, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Adams of Van Tassell, and Joe Adams of Chadron.
