A memorial service for Don L. Jensen was conducted April 14, 2003, at the Manville school.
Don L. Jensen died April 10, 2003, at his home in Manville.
Don Jensen was born Feb. 14, 1933, to Chris and EulaLee Jensen. The family moved to Midwest, Wyo., and Don spent his childhood and youth in that community.
In October 1954, Don married Algera Nelson.
The majority of Don's life was spent ranching, simply because of his love of good horses and working cattle.
During his youth, Don and his father raised and traded horses. Together they exported horses to England, supplied horses for the remount in Crawford, and for World War II.
They were known for their expertise with horses and were involved in all aspects of the business from ranching and supplying remounts to rodeo and the race track.
Most recently, Don had a livestock trailer business and was well known and respected for his skills in repairing trailers and pickup beds.
Don loved the sport of rodeo, especially bull riding and roping. Although not a member, he was an avid supporter of the Niobrara County Roping Club and any other rodeo activities he could attend.
He was recently voted to the Town Council of Manville, a responsibility he accepted with pride and enthusiasm.
He is survived by his wife of Manville; five children, Candy Sedlacek and her husband Robert of Ely, Nev., Chris Jensen and his wife Jennifer of Lance Creek, Carol Bell and her husband Bill of Alliance, Nebr., Casey Jensen and his wife Tammie of Lusk, and Connie Ayers and her husband Wade of Tonopah, Nev.; 13 grandchildren, Brenda Chafin, Joe Sedlacek, Kenny Jensen, Jackie Jensen, Chad Bell, Jamie Lange, Charlie Bell, Cortney Jensen, Cooper Jensen, Amber Si Jensen, Sara Ayers, T. J. Ayers, and Jeb Ayers; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Braden Chafin.
