Bernard Leo Kaper
Funeral services for Bernard Leo Kaper, age 62, were held Thursday, March 9, 1989 at 1:00 P.M. at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Mike Benson officiating. Interment was in the Horseshoe Cemetery in Glendo, Wyoming. Mr. Kaper died Monday, March 6, 1989 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas, following a short illness.
He was born March 10, 1926 at Mitchell, NE the son of Raymond and Sadie (Lashley) Kaper. In August of 1926 he moved with his family to a farm five miles south of Manville, WY. He attended school in Lusk, WY and the Buck Creek School in Niobrara County, WY. On September 11, 1949 he married Lorraine Henry in Wheatland, WY. They later moved to Lusk. While there he worked at the Armory, then later for the Town of Lusk. While there he also joined the National Guard. In 1967 they moved to Orin, WY. He was a mechanic by trade and owned and operated a garage for a time. Later he worked as a pumper in the oil fields until his retirement in 1981 due to ill health. He loved to garden and spent a lot of time working with leather and wood.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Kaper, of Orin, WY; one son, Duane Kaper of Gillette, WY; one daughter, Donna Heimsoth, of Wheatland, WY; two brothers, Burt Kaper of Manville, WY and Joe Kaper of Douglas, WY; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Serving as pallbearers were Greg Stinson, Dan Lovitt, Faha Foster, Pat Phillipps, Jerry Lenzen and Leo Sorg.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Adam Rexius and Larry Heimsoth Sr.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas, WY was in charge of the arrangements.
