Christeen Kobbe

Former Lance Creek resident, Christeen Kobbe, 83, died Jan. 12, 1990, at her home in Redlands, Calif., after a long bout with cancer.

Christeen was born in Douglas County, Mo., on June 23, 1906, to Susan Ellen Parnell Ward and Samuel Lafayette Wagner. After moving to Wyoming, she married Dale Kobbe and they lived north of Lance Creek. They were divorced in 1934.

She began her teaching career in 1937 at the Schmidt School, after teaching at Bill's Creek School for several years and then at the West Lance Creek School before moving to Douglas where she taught for a number of years. She had lived in Redlands for the past 17 years. While at Lance Creek, she was very active in the American Sunday School Union.

She was a member of University United Methodist Church; Eastern Stars, Past Matrons and Past Patrons; The Wyoming Alumni Association; was past president of the Wyoming Education Association; and the University United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her daughter Clara E. Titera of Redlands; one sister, Maud C. Quinn of Caldwell, Idaho; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition she is survived by a sister-in-law Ruth Ward of Manville and nephews Grant Ward of Lance Creek, Fred Ward of Yoder and a niece, May E. Ward Smith of Manville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; Zeb Ward and Zera Nolan Ward, and one sister Marie.

Memorial services were held Jan. 21, 1990 at the University United Methodist Church in Redlands.
