James R. Kaper

Services for James R. Kaper, 87, were held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mark Lohr officiating. Burial followed at Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Kaper died Saturday, May 15, 1993, in a Scottsbluff, Neb. nursing home. He was born Oct. 14, 1905, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Jakob and Mary Kaper.

The family moved to the Lusk area and he attended school at Manville. Mr. Kaper married Virginia Smith on Feb. 10, 1933, in Hot Springs, S.D.

Mr. Kaper lived and farmed in Wyoming for 36 years. In 1957 he bought a farm in Nebraska. He lived in Minitare for several years and moved to Gering, Neb., in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his step-daughter Vanetta Weatherford of Evansville, Wyo., a brother, Leo Kaper of Wyoming, a sister, Pauline Chapman of California; and one step-grandson, Jake Smith of Casper.

For those who wish memorials to: Niobrara Senior Center will be appreciated by the family.
