Memorial service for Emil Klemke held February 1

Memorial service for Emil Klemke, former Lusk resident, was held in Torrington Tuesday, February 1. The Rev. Marvin Temme officiated at the service conducted at the Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. The family requests that memorials be directed to Our Saviour Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.

Emil Ludwig Klemke, 82, died at the Goshen County Memorial Nursing Home in Torrington January 29. He was born January 25, 1901, in Snyder, Neb., the son of August and Anna Louise Beck Klemke. He was educated in Snyder and attended the Snyder Parochial School. On February 28, 1924, he and Elise Kurz were married in the Pebble Creek Church near Scribner Neb.

Emil and Elise moved to Wyoming in 1927 where he was employed in the Harris Lumber and Hardware business at Jay Em. He moved to Lusk in 1932 and was engaged in farming and ranching in the area. In 1943, they moved to and lived in the Divide Community north of Lusk until moving to Torrington in 1959. He had lived in Torrington for the last 24 years.

He was a member of the Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Torrington and was active as a 4-H leader and in all church activities. He served on the R.E.A. Board in Niobrara County and on numerous agricultural boards. He was also a member of the Wyo-Nebr. Redalers Camper Club and was active in the Senior Friendship Center.

Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Robert (Lilette) Heumier of Torrington, three brothers, Alvin , Sioux City, Ia., Elmer, Snyder, Neb., and August J., Wonder Lake, Ill.; four sisters, Alma Brosius, Alvin, Tex., Mae Glandt, Lusk, Emma Alexander, Ft. Morgan, Colo. and Frieda Pasold, Beemer, Nebr.; two grandchildren Carolyn DuBray, Cheyenne and Richard Heumier, Teton Village.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elise in July, 1981, three brothers and one sister.
