Elaine Wasserburger Kuhn

Elaine Wasserburger Kuhn, who died Aug. 20, 1997, in Phoenix, Ariz., was remembered in services held on August 25, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. with a rosary and BPOE's Doe's burial ritual. A memorial mass was held on August 26, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Elaine's favorite music was sung by her daughter Sandi at the memorial service. A graveside service was held at the Lusk cemetery following the funeral.

Elaine was born Jan 8, 1926 in Ardmore, S. D.

Mrs. Kuhn, known as Susie to her family, was one of 10 children of Frances Konrath Wasserburger and Willford Wasserburger. She lived in South Dakota and Nebraska. She graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison, Neb. in 1943.

Following graduation, she received emergency certification and taught school. She moved to Lusk in 1944 with her family. She worked for the county in the abstract and treasurer's offices.

Mrs. Kuhn married Frank Kuhn on May 29, 1947.

They raised four daughters. They managed the Lusk airport in the 1960's before starting Kuhn Equipment. Mrs. Kuhn lived in Lusk until November of 1996, when she moved to Arizona to live with her daughter, Sandi.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and a charter member of the B.P.O.E. Does in Lusk, serving several years as president.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Melonie Chriswisser; parents; brothers Leo, Ken and Ralph Wasserburger; sisters Rosella Wasserburger and Margaret "Midge" Wasserburger Lawler.

She is survived by daughters Pam Kozola of Casper, Sibyl Clausen of Tulsa, Okla., and Sandi Kuhn of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren Stacy Clausen and Chris Clausen of Tulsa, Okla., Kirk Clausen of Littleton, Colo., Rob Chriswisser of Hollywood, Calif., Brian Kozola, U.S.A.F. Academy, Colo. and Kristi Kozola of Casper; brothers Jim Wasserburger of Aragon, N. M. and Jerry Wasserburger of Lusk; sisters Doris Wasserburger Thornhill of Austin, Tex. and Beth Wasserburger Sides of Lusk; and many nieces and nephews.
