Vince Linenbrink, 66, of Cody, died Friday, September 29, 1995, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln, Neb.
Vince was born April 11, 1929, in Callaway to Henry and Margaret Linenbrink.
He was united in marriage on December 24, 1954, to Betty Robinson of Norden.
He was a rancher all his life including 22 years as foreman on the Jess McGinley Ranch by Merriman.
He was in the Navy from January 10, 1951, to November 17, 1954. His tour of duty included Guam, Hawaii, Korea and Japan.
In January 1986, he realized his lifelong dream of owning his own ranch, which he continued to operate until his death.
Vince was a member of the National Cattleman's Association and the American-International Charolais Association.
Vince was an honorable man, setting the standard for other ranchers to follow. He always said ranching was a 24-hour-a-day job, seven days a week. Vince always finished what he started and never stopped a job till it was done.
Many years were devoted to the development of his herd of purebred Charolais cattle and improving their bloodlines. He had a remarkable way with animals and had a great appreciation for fine horse flesh.
Vince loved his family. He had unshakable moral and ethical values, with high expectations which his family strived to fulfill.
He was a craftsman and woodworker, building everything from the ranch house to the fine red cedar furniture that filled it. He had a dry sense of humor and a wicked wit. He was loved by many people and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons, Steve of Espanola, N.M.; Tom of Eugene, Ore.; and Tim of Marysville, Wash.; daughters, Vicki Bolden of Lusk, Rose Urlacker of Roundup, Mont.; Donna Lee of Alliance, Neb., and Susan Simon of Great Bend, Kan.; and nine grandchildren. Survivors also include eight sisters and three brothers.
A Rosary was held Monday, October 1, at 7 p.m. at St Leo's Catholic Church in Gordon. Father John Hennessy, Society of Jesus; and Father Bob Karnish officiated. Burial was in the Gordon Cemetery. The family requests memorials to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund c/o The First national Bank, Gordon, NE. 69343
