William Ladwig Dies at Age 88
Funeral service was held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel for William Ladwig, 88, who died at Natrona Memorial Hospital August 30.
The Rev. Paul Burnschuh, Douglas, conducted the service with Mrs. A, F, DeCastro organist. Singers, Nancy Lange, Judy Lange, Bob Doctor, Rob Akers, and Debbie Akers sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Rock of Ages."
Casket bearers, all grandsons of Mr. Ladwig, were Robert Seifert, Richard Ladwig, Clyde Wilson, Larry Ladwig, Steven Ladwig, Ernest Ladwig, Scott Ladwig and William T. Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers were Emery Gaukel, Lee Moore, Frank Podolak, Bud Hoblit, Harry Miller, Gene L. Payne, Leo Heins, Frank Mahnke, Alvin Alexander, Floyd Alexander, Lynard Gladson, Fred Sheaman, Dave Bryant, Fred Hansen, Charles Heumier, Helmuth Klemke, Harlan Lohr, Rulo Roberts, C. E. Marvin, Chris Jassman, and Roy Turnbull. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Wilhelm (William) August Frederick Ladwig was born on February 1, 1885 in Schuyler, Neb. and came to Van Tassel in 1915 where he operated a garage for several years.
He married Katherina Wilhelmina Grant, Jan. 7, 1920, in Alliance, Neb. She died in 1948.
His early life consisted of farming in the Lusk area and custom threshing and combining wheat crops throughout western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota, until 1960 when he moved to Turlock, Calif., where he owned and operated a motel until his retirement in 1968.
Mr. Ladwig made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Madeline) Fagan, Casper and spent the summers at the home of his son, Richard Ladwig at Manville, until his death following a lengthy illness.
Survivors include four sons, James of Wheat Ridge, Colo., William (Bill) and Richard of Manville, Harold of Douglas; seven daughters, Mrs. Fagan of Casper, Mrs. Andrew (DeLyda) Hines, Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Clyde (Autumn) Wilson, Aurora, Colo., Mrs. Alfred (Olga) Lamont, and Mrs. Lucille Orrett, both of Fremont, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Drewery, Billings, Mont., and Mrs. J. M. (Helen) VanSickle, Angra Dos Reis, Rio De Janerio, Brazil; one brother, Carl Ladwig and one sister, Augusta Herling, both of Schuyler, Neb.; 35 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Josephine, died previously.
