Mr. Lagerberg was born January 31, 1890 in Krostop, Sweden. He came to the United States when he was 15 years old with a twin brother and settled at Sac City, IA and followed the harvest field work. He left Iowa when he was 19 years old and separated form his twin brother. He had one other brother and two sisters who lived in New Jersey.

He went to work in the oil fields in Montana, Cody, Wyoming, Organ Basin Grass Field and came to Lance Creek in 1927. He worked for the oil company for over 30 years retiring in 1955 when he moved to Lusk where he bought a home later moving to the Ranger Apartments. He entered the Niobrara County Nursing Home in 1987.

He has no known relatives and the Joe Traphagans were like family to him as the two men worked in the oil fields. He was known to be Santa Claus to every kid in the field and at school graduations. He was quiet and unassuming with a heart of gold. He also served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I.

Memorials to the Niobrara County Nursing Home or to the V.A. Hospital in Hot Springs would be appreciated.

Peet Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
