Funeral Services Held For Jake Lorenzen Oct. 24

Funeral services were held for Jurdgen P. "Jake" Lorenzen, 55 at Darrington, Wash. October 24, a former resident of Lusk, who died October 19, at the Everett Hospital in Darrington from a massive hemorrhage.

Services were conducted in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Dobson of the Church of the Transfiguration, officiating. Mrs. Minnie Davis was organist. Interment was in the Darrington cemetery.

Honorary casket bearers were: Harry Van Arnam, Willard Broten, Julius White, Si Gilbert, Frank Szekely, Pat Pitson, Eldon Abbot and Weir Lemon.

Active casket bearers were: Chester William, Ross Hamlin, Hal Esnley, Regal Nations, George Weston and Lewis Noble.

Jurdgen "Jake" Lorenzen was born Aug. 8, 1911, to George J. and Clara T. Lorenzen at their ranch home north of Lusk, the youngest of a family of four.

He was married to Alice Barnhart, April 22, 1937 at Gering, Nebr.

Mr. Lorenzen owned and operated the Hiway Super Service Station and the Texaco Bulk Plant in Lusk for a number of years, selling the station to his brother, John and brother-in-law, Vic Senters in 1944, when he enlisted in the Navy.

When he returned from the Navy, he sold his bulk plant to Dale Windom. He and his family moved to Darrington, Wash., in 1950 where they bought a grocery store, later disposing of it and starting up the J. and A. Variety Store which he and his wife Alice were operating at the time of his death.

Mr. Lorenzen was an active football promoter and was active in all civic programs here and in Darrington. He was a member of Custer Lodge No. 21 I.O.O.F. of Lusk, A Veteran of World War II, a member of the Church of Transfiguration, Darrington Chamber of Commerce and Arlington Post No. 76 American Legion.

He is survived by his widow, Alice, two daughters, Kaye a student at Ellensburg Washington College and Linda Jean at home, one brother, John and two sisters, Emily Wood and Effie Senters, all of Lusk.

He was preceded in death by a son, George and his parents.

Out-of-town relatives attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Lorenzen, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Senters, Mrs. Emily Wood, all of Lusk and Mr. and Mrs. George Lorenzen of LaGrande, Ore.
