Magoon Services Held Last Wednesday

Funeral services were held last Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 2:00 p.m. for Jack Magoon, 54, of Lusk. Mr. Magoon died December 14 in the Casper Hospital following a serious heart attack.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements. Services were held from St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk with the Rev. Dean Addington officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. J.P. Watson furnished organ music. Casket bearers were Dr. Richard Collins, Richard Barnette, Paul Percival, Harry Lyon, Harry Brown and Robert Bramlet.

Honorary bearers were Richard G. Pfister, James Thompson, Walter Fernau, George Dixon, James Pennington and Charles Rejda.

He was born July 27, 1915 in Lusk to William and Elvina Magoon. He spent his entire life in this community. October 9, 1935, he married May Ruth Pendray of Chadron, Nebr. They made their home on a ranch joining John Pendray, father of Mrs. Magoon, which was south of Van Tassell in Sioux County, Neb. For the next several years he operated his own ranch and worked with his father-in-law. They moved to Lusk at their present home in 1950. He was employed recently as bookkeeper at the Southside Truck Stop and then worked as bookkeeper for Ranchers Feed Service until his sickness.

He was a devoted member of St. George's Episcopal Church and served many years as vestryman. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge of Lusk and past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Harrison, Neb.

His parents died previously. Survivors include his widow, May of the family home; two sons, Terry of Casper and Bruce of O'Neill, Neb.; two daughters, Jeanette Wilburn and Lynn Biggs, both of Denver; one brother, William of Lusk; and one sister, Charlls Larson of Lusk; two grandsons.
