Funeral for Pat Miller Held Fri.

A.R. (Pat) Miller, 76, of Lusk died July 22 at his home in Lusk. Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Pastor Richard Korns of Manville officiated. Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist and accompanied Mrs. Richard Korns and Mrs. Jack Hammond as they sang "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "The Great Speckled Bird."

Casket bearers were Robert Sides, Richard Kant, James Groves, James Heth, John Goddard and Burr Bryant. Honorary bearers were Reuben Johnson, Bud Shipley, Tom Bowers, Lue Osborn, Wilbur Bryant, Ed Cook, Rulo Roberts, Ray DeGering, Glen Riley, Harry Sides, Charles Vaughan, Lester Meade, Frank Christian and Stewart Sides.

He was born at Galena, Kan., May 30, 1893, to George and Cora (Johnson) Miller. As a small boy he emigrated with his parents by covered wagon to Alliance, Neb., where he completed his schooling and grew to manhood. In the spring of 1916, with his brother Melvin, he came to Seaman Hills near Hat Creek in a covered wagon to take up a homestead.

He served with the U. S. Army during World War I and when discharged returned to his homestead. He loved ranch life and livestock, and followed this until ill health forced his retirement in 1965.

He married Velda Penn August 27, 1922, and they were the parents of seven children. He was a member of the Congregational Church.

His parents, one brother and three children died previously.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ora Lee Smith, Moorcroft, Mrs. Orese Vondra and Mrs. Sharon Lamb, Casper; one son, Patrick Ace of Lance Creek; one brother, George Melvin of Manville; three sisters, Mrs. L. T. Burrows and Mrs. Burr Underwood of Alliance, Neb., and Mrs. Ed Macken of Santa Cruz, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
