Tom Mitchell, 44, Dies of Heart Attack
Tom Mitchell, 44, Town of Lusk Superintendent of Public Works for the past six years, died of a heart attack in his sleep last Wednesday evening. Funeral services were held from St. George's Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Mitchell stated earlier in the day that he was not feeling well and went home from work and went to bed. It was later discovered that he had died.
Prior to coming to Lusk in 1962 he was employed for 14 years as an electrician by the City of Torrington.
The Rev. Dean Addington officiated at the funeral. Mrs. Gerald Bardo was organist and accompanied Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. Walter Fernau, Harry Lyon and Dr. Richard Collins as they sang, "Faith of our Fathers", "Now the Day is Over" and "Nunc Dimittis."
Casket bearers were Harold Rogers, Ray Taylor and Al Titchener of Lusk, Darryl Page and George Knight of Torrington and Max Whitman of Guernsey. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell had served on the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department ever since coming to Lusk and was its vice president. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks, American Legion and served on the vestry of St. George's Episcopal Church.
His parents, one sister and an infant granddaughter died previously
He is survived by his wife, Alice, two daughters, Bobbie and Georgia, one son, Tom, all of the family home in Lusk, and his oldest son, Jack of Chadron, Nebr.; one brother, L. D. Mitchell of Torrington; three sisters, Mrs. Margret Frizell, Choctaw, Okla., Mrs. Edith Booth, Estacada, Ore. and Mrs. Cora Lanning, Oregon City, Ore.
