Clinton "Lefty" Morehouse

Funeral service was held July 26 at the United Church of Christ in Edgemont for "Lefty" Morehouse who died July 22, in the VA Hospital in Hot Springs after an extended period of ill health.

Rev. Roy S. Brown was officiating clergyman and the music "In The Garden" and "I Believe" was furnished by Vernis Brown and Pauline Trotter accompanied by Sharon Frye.

Casket bearers were: Dick Dibble, Gary Finch, Bret Fox, Joe Fox, Keith Burdon and Richard Krumholz. Interment was in the Edgemont Cemetery with Vande Bossche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Clinton Crawford Morehouse was born April 17, 1926, in Burton, Neb. to Clinton and Lillian Morehouse. He attended school in Burton and when a teenager moved to Lusk. On March 14, 1943, he enlisted in the Army and saw service in the European Theatre. He was discharged in March of 1946 as a corporal in Co, "C" of the 310th Infantry.

Clinton Morehouse and Arlie Chalfont were married on May 26, 1952 in Rapid City. After a short period of employment at the Black Hills Army Depot he went into uranium milling and processing and at the time of his illness he was employed by Sliver King Mines, Inc. He was retired from the Edgemont Voluntary Fire Department.

Survivors include: his wife, Arlie of Edgemont; three daughters, Peggy Bowling of Evanston, Hazel of Edgemont and Leah Broeker of Alliance, Neb.; one son, David of Redding, Calif.; three sisters, Georgine Lee of Riverton, Betty Schnorenberg of Bountiful, Utah and Sally Fernau of Wright; four grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Kevin, and Brandon. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry and one sister, Patricia.
