Joseph Foy Dies in Wheatland January 1

Joe Foy of Guernsey, for many years a resident of the Flattop community died at the Memorial Hospital in Wheatland Sunday evening after a long illness. He was taken to the hospital December 9. Prior to that time he had been cared for at his home by Mrs. Foy.

Rosary services were held Tuesday evening in Wheatland and funeral services were held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hartville Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.with the Rev. Father Sevete officiating at Requiem High Mass. Interment took place in the Guernsey Cemetery.

Casket bearers were K. W. Hughes, D. W. Smith, Edward Hughes, W. A. Shaffer, and Harry Fahy of Flattop and Willis Fahy of Guernsey.

Mr. Foy is survived by his widow, two sons, Harold and William Foy of Guernsey, one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Banks of Butte, Montana and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Foy was born in Wisconsin July 7, 1880. His parents died when he was very young. He spent his youthful years in Nebraska with relatives. He was married to Edith Tenney at North Platte, Nebr. July 19, 1905. The Foys celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last July. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Foy made their home in Grand Island, Nebr., later moving to a farm near St. Libory, Nebr. Mr. Foy came to Wyoming in 1914, establishing the homestead at Flattop where the family lived until 1954 when they leased the farm and moved to Guernsey. Mrs. Foy was postmistress at Flattop for 33 years, until her retirement February 27, 1954.
