Donna Jean Owens

Donna Jean Owens, age 77, of Casper passed away on Oct. 14 at her home. Services were held Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Bob Cook officiating. Burial took place at 2:30 p.m. at the Lusk Cemetery.

Donna was born Sept. 21, 1927 in Lusk, to Robert Charles and Bertha Jane Deuel (Bancroft). She grew up in Van Tassell and Lusk. She graduated from Lusk High School.

On June 30, 1947 she married Pete Owens in Lusk. She worked for various banks in Lusk and Casper as a bookkeeper, secretary and receptionist. She also worked for Wyoming Medical Center (Memorial Hospital) as a payroll clerk.

She then went to work for the Democratic Voice Spokesman newspaper for many years. Then went to work in the office of US Senator Gale McGee. She worked for the senator for 13 years.

After her work with the senator she went to work in the office of Carpenters Local 1564 until her retirement.

Survivors include one son Jerry Owens, of Casper; one daughter Judy Sonesen of Casper and her only granddaughter Amanda Sonesen of Casper. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years; one brother Charles Bancroft and one sister Maxine Riley.

Memorials may be sent to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 South Wilson, Casper, 82601 or Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1401 CY Ave., Casper WY 82604.

Newcomer Family Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
