W. Calvin Paisley

Memorial services for W. Calvin Paisley were held Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Paisley, 70, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1994, at his home in Casper following a lengthy illness. He was born June 30, 1924 in Salem, Iowa, the son of Carlton A. and Bertha (Hitz) Paisley. When he was a year old, the family moved to the Lusk area, homesteading northeast of Lusk. In 1931, they moved to Lusk where he grew up and attended school, graduating from high school in 1939.

He joined the Army National Guard when he was 18. He joined the U. S. Army in 1943. He served during World War II and was discharged in 1946.

On September 4, 1943, he was married to Doris Burge in Lusk.

After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Lusk where he was self-employed in the carpet installation business.

The family moved to Casper in 1955 where he continued his self-employment as carpet installer and master carpenter.

He was later married to Elaine (Scottie) Thornock.

His hobbies included gunsmithing, fishing, singing and playing the guitar. He and his wife Doris performed for several years at the Legend of Rawhide in Lusk.

Survivors include his daughter Karen Paisley of Casper, son Rod Paisley of the Willow Creek Ranch near Kaycee; one granddaughter of San Diego; brother Carlton H. Paisley of Casper; sisters, Ruth Lamb of the Lamb Ranch southeast of Casper, and Gloria Snowden of Casper, numerous nieces and nephews.

Military honors will be accorded by the United Veterans Council.

Cremation has been held under the direction of the Bustard Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Central Wyoming Cancer Treatment and Hospice Center.
