Everett L. Parmely

Funeral services for Everett Lynn Parmely, 88, of Lusk, were held May 26, at the First Baptist Church in Lusk, with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Interment was at the Lusk Cemetery.

Everett Lynn Parmely died May 20, 1999, at Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk. Everett was born November 22, 1910, to Claude and Sylvia (Green) Parmely in Jerauld County, S.D. On July 4, 1932, he married Margaret M. Wright. They were the parents of three sons.

He worked as a rancher for several years in the Douglas and Harrison area. Later he started his own business, the Parmely Blacksmith Shop. He was known for his specialty of sharpening plow shears and welding techniques. He also had a sanitation service along with numerous other trades.

He resided in the Niobrara Nursing Home in Lusk since November 18, 1996. He was content living at the home and did a lot of whittling of animal figurines and various other objects, which he sold and gave many away to his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents and two sisters, Della McAllister and Harriett Smith.

Survivors include his three sons and their families: Al of Casper, Bobby of Van Tassell, and Franklin of Houston, Texas; 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild; two brothers, Clifford and Glen of Lusk, and one sister, Erma Cox of Torrington.

Memorials have been established to the Lusk Ambulance Fund, Niobrara County Nursing Home or the donor's choice in lieu of flowers.

Bader Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
