Evelyn M. Garhart

Evelyn M. Garhart, 87, of Lusk, died July 11, 1999, at the Niobrara County Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at 2 p.m., at the Manville Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Bartlett of Niobrara Southern Baptist Church officiating.

Evelyn Garhart was born to Paul and Marcia (Sutherland) Sullivan April 23, 1912, at Petersburg, Neb. She grew up on her parents' homestead near Shawnee. She married Vern Garhart Aug. 21, 1930. They lived in Manville until 1958, when they relocated to Denver, Colo. She graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1959 as an L.P.N. She worked several years before retiring in Wheatland.

In 1992, she moved to Niobrara County Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one daughter in infancy, daughter Marty Cox, five brothers, one granddaughter, two grandsons and one great-grandson.

She is survived by five daughters, Verna Pfister Hawley and Arlene Arends both of Lusk, Nila Barrett of Wheatland, Joann Heins of Keeline, and Carol Lambert of Manville; two sisters, Leola Wynne of Gering, Neb. and Verla Chadwick of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will include all her grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the family, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Bader Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
