Eva Provost

Services for Eva Provost, 97, of Gillette, were held Tuesday March 27 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Lusk with the Rev. Odias McMillan officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Lund, Odias McMillan, Hugh McLain, Rick Lee, Olaf Dobrzanski, Clyde Baughman and Richard Baughman.

Mrs. Provost died Friday, March 23 at Johnson County Memorial Hospital.

Eva Matilda Provost was born Oct. 20, 1886 in Hartford, Ind. to David and Eliza Baughman. Her early years were spent in Oklahoma, where she grew up and received her education.

In 1903 she was married to Frank Provost at Collinsville, Okla. In 1916 they moved to Wyoming and in 1919, they settled near Lance Creek where they pumped "Old 28" until their retirement.

Mr. Provost died in 1958 and Eva continued to live in Lusk until 1979, when she moved to Buffalo to make her home. She lived there until the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, three sisters and six brothers.

She is survived by one son, Roy Provost of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Eugene Provost of Rozette, Phyllis Walters of Rozette, and Margie Eutsler of Missoula, Mont.; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six nieces, eight nephews, and 22 great nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be made to the Wyoming Heart Fund in care of the Adams Funeral Home, who were in charge of arrangements.
