Virgil A. Quinn

Virgil A. Quinn, long-time resident of Lusk, died in the Niobrara Nursing Home May 20.

Mr. Quinn who was a sign painter here was a member of the B.P.O. Elks and an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. In late years, confined to a wheelchair, he still enjoyed fishing at McMaster Reservoir and a memorial has been established in his name for the reservoir. Efforts are currently underway to maintain the water level in the reservoir as a fishing habitat.

Virgil A. Quinn was born January 20, 1905, at Artesian, S.D., the son of Alfred and Grace Quinn. In June of 1944 he and Helen Bircher were married. Mrs. Quinn died in 1967.

Graveside service was held Monday, May 24, at 2 p.m. at the Lusk Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Bozart officiating.

Mr. Quinn is survived by three step-children Darla McKinney of Bowie, Texas, Donald Bircher of Aurora, Colo., and Clifford Bircher of Renton, Wash.; three sisters, Regina Aydelotte of Albuquerque, N.M., Alice Hoefer of Modesto, Calif.; and Ann Schrage of Hughson, Calif.; and one brother Daniel Quinn of Fremont, Neb.
