Mrs. Roberts Dies Sunday While on Trip

Mrs. Rulo Roberts, 65, a resident of Niobrara County for 47 years, died in Albany, Ore., Sunday night after suffering a stroke July 3. Mrs. Roberts, with her husband and sister, had left Lusk June 21 to visit their son, Leslie Roberts and family in New Plymouth, Ida. They went to Albany, Ore., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Tim Deveny June 28 and were to have returned home in a short time.

Mrs. Roberts was hospitalized for several weeks after a stroke in February.

Funeral services will be held at the Peet Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James E. Davis as officiant.

Funeral Service For Mrs. Roberts Held Here Friday


Funeral services for Mrs. Rulo Roberts were held at the Peet Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James Davis officiating.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. James Berry, and Dr. Richard Collins sang "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" and "Nearer My God To Thee" with Mr. J. P. Watson as organist. Rites of the Rebekah Lodge were conferred by Mrs. Maude Upton, Mrs. Ward Kindred and Mrs. Paul Heany. Active pallbearers were: Ralph Sides, Kenneth Freeman, Wm. Hoblit, Joe Klemke John Goddard and Lloyd Coleman. Honorary bearers were: Walt Schnorenberg, Sr., Dudley Fields, Tim Deveny, Dave Iliff, Andy Owens, A. C. Tibbits, Clarence Sides, Edmond Cook, Harry Cornell, Fred Hansen, Ray Freeman, Allen Sheridan and O. P. Harnagel. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Lucy Frances McMurtry, daughter of James and Mary McMurtry was born in Broken Bow Nebr. November 3, 1895, and spent her early years in that area. She married Rulo G. Roberts, July 2, 1914 in Brewster, Nebr. They came to Wyoming in 1917, filing on a homestead near Hat Creek. They were parents of three children, Leslie J. of New Plymouth, Idaho, Mrs. Mary Hoblit of Lusk and Kester J. who died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts moved from their ranch home to Lusk in 1947.

Mrs. Roberts was very active in community affairs as well as the organizations of which she was a member. She recently completed a term as deaconess of the First Congregational Church and was serving as Noble Grand of Lusk Rebekah Lodge. She was also a member of the Hat Creek Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Roberts accompanied by Mrs. Roberts sister, Mrs. Ruth Minter, left Lusk June 21 to visit their son in New Plymouth. They had gone to Albany, Ore. to visit Mr. and Mrs. Tim Deveny when Mrs. Roberts suffered the fatal stroke and died July 9.

Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hoblit; a son, Leslie J.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Minter of Lusk; two brothers, Cyrus McMurtry of Casper and Claude McMurtry of Scottsbluff and seven grandchildren.
