Thelma L. Kinnaman Rodgers
Funeral services for Thelma L. Kinnaman Rodgers, 90, of Sheridan, were held Nov. 9, 1999, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Deacon Joe Kristufek officiating. Vigil services were Nov. 8. Interment was in the Sheridan Cemetery.
Thelma Rodgers died Nov. 5, 1999, at her home.
She was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Crook County, to Harlan B. Kinnaman and Florence Lamie Kinnaman.
Her father worked for the railroad and the family lived in various Wyoming communities.
She attended kindergarten and first grade in Powder River; second grade in Jerome; third grade at Taylor School in Sheridan; fourth and fifth grades at Old Central School in Sheridan; sixth, seventh and eighth grades in Buffalo. She attended Natrona County High School in Casper, graduating in 1927.
She married James F. Rodgers at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Casper in 1927.
The family lived in oil communities in Wyoming, including Illco, Big Muddy, and Lance Creek, and moved to Sheridan in 1960 when Mr. Rodgers retired. Mrs. Rodgers worked at the Rock Trim Motel for many years and also worked at the JE and Parkway Motels.
Throughout her life, she was devoted to big band music and enjoyed movies and soap operas on television.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, and her son Jim in 1990.
Also preceding her were her brother Bill Kinnaman; sisters Fern Marquess, Helen Maxted and Bertha Therault and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons Lawrence of Sheridan and John of Soldotna, Alaska; daughter Lorraine Quinn of Leesburg, Fla.; daughter in law of Carmel Rodgers of Hemet, Calif.; half brother Paul Appeldt of Ventura, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center and/or Hospice of the Big Horns in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Box 2007, Sheridan, WY.
