Emma Rogers Dies, Funeral Here Tuesday
Funeral service was held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel for Mrs. Emma C. Rogers, 84, who died Saturday at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne.
The funeral was conducted by The Rev. Thomas Jacobsen, Lutheran minister from Crawford in the absence of the Rev. Beuford Anderson. Mrs. Sigmund Hahn was the organist and accompanied a group of singers from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Judy Lange, Nancy Lange, Colleen Leno, Vivian Lenz, Rob Akers, Charles Bredthauer, and Bob Doctor as they sang "My Redeemer Lives" and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Casket bearers were Jim Kaper, N. V. Lamb, Martin Glandt, Joe Klemke, Bob McDaniels and Dr. Francis Barrett.
Honorary bearers were Marion Rasmussen, James Barrett, Ira Lamb, Bill Glandt, Ray Reed, John Alters, Tom McCullough, Lloyd Tschacher, Bill Nuttall, Otto Klemke, Vic Leno, Henry Klemke, Walter Klemke, Charles Heumier, Chet Stubson, Richard Lenz, Pete Owens, Bill Bredthauer, Walter Doctor, Otto Krekler, Ivan Glandt, Woodrow Glandt and Fred Sheaman.
Emma C. Rogers, christened Emma C. Damme, was born in Wayne, Neb., October 20, 1888, to Henry M. and Minnie Pardee Damme the youngest of 11 children.
She came to Wyoming in 1912 and homesteaded 16 miles south of Van Tassell. April 3, 1915, she married Roy Rogers of Lusk. The couple had two daughters, Wyoma Faye Rogers (Mrs. Archie Huey of Lusk) and Minnie Bernice Rogers (Mrs. Floyd McCleery) of Manville.
The Rogers family became residents of Lusk in 1919 after selling the Van Tassell property, and in 1936 they purchased a ranch at Manville. Mr. Rogers died in 1940 and Mrs. Rogers remained on the Manville ranch until she retired in 1952 when she made permanent residence in her home at Lusk.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lusk, the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, Lusk Woman's Club, Tumbleweed Extension Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and the Manville Homemakers Club.
Her parents, six sisters and three brothers died previously. She is survived by her two daughters, one sister, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
