Katherine E. Rokne

Funeral service for Katherine Evan Rokne was held at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk on Wednesday, April 19.

Katherine died April 16, 2000, at Michael Manor Nursing Home in Douglas, Wyo. at the age of 98.

Katherine was born July 9, 1901, at Barting, Luxemborg. As a young girl she worked in a coal mine until her family came to the United States in 1919.

They resided in Sturgis, S.D. and she worked several years in St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood, S.D.

Katherine met and married Christian K. Rokne on September 1, 1928. Survivors include: son Robert R. Rokne and wife Verna of Springfield, Ore.; daughters Theresa Modine and husband Vern of Lusk, Wyo., Pauline Sanfilippo and husband Joe of Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Katherine was also survived by six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters, four brothers and one grandson.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Cemetery at Scottsbluff, Neb. on April 20.

A memorial has been established to the Niobrara Senior Center in Lusk.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home of Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
