Funeral service for Louis E, Sherrill, long-time resident of Harrison who died at the West Nebraska General Hospital at Scottsbluff on May 26, were held at United Methodist Church in Harrison on May 30. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.
Robert Todd conducted the service. Mrs. Todd was organist and accompanied Miss Lillie Larsen, Mrs. Glen Fitch, Mrs. Ted King and Mrs. Allen Grimm as they sang, "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset."
Pallbearers were Clarence Schnurr, Francis (Bud) Bourret, and four grand-nephews - Donald Dunn, William L. Dunn, James M. Dunn and Harold Dunn all of Harrison.
He was born at Harrison, Neb. on April 9, 1890 to Lucy and John Sherrill, and was 83 at the time of his death.
He married Manie M. Howard on October 29, 1914 and lived in Harrison until his death with the exception of the last four winters in which he spent with his daughter in California.
He was retired from Standard Oil Company after 22 years in their service and was later Sheriff of Sioux County for 18 years. He retired from this position in December of 1966.
He is survived by his daughter Eunice D. Leinart of Alhambra, Calif., two grandsons Larry Reed of Temple City, Calif. and David Leinart of Alhambra, Calif. and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Manie, one brother Ellery, and six sisters, Mrs. Emma Porter, Eva Dunn, Josephine Kennedy, Edna Bradford, Georgia Proudfoot and Hattie Bourret.
Out-of-town relatives attending were: his daughter, Mrs. Eunice Leinart, his grandson, Larry Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Berle Bearbower of Scottsbluff, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cearns of Scottsbluff, Mrs. Elzine (Jack) Bearbower of Riverside, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kennedy of Chadron, and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Kennedy of Crawford.
Members of United Methodist Women served cake and coffee after the burial to relatives and friends of the family
Mr. Sherrills other grandson, David Leinart, arrived later in the week to be with his family and friends.
Larry Reed left from Scottsbluff to fly to his home in California the following Monday and David Leinart left from Harrison to drive to his home in Alhambra Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Eunice Leinart will stay a few days to visit friends and relatives and take care of some business before returning to her home in Alhambra, Calif.
