Bennie Baker Dies Monday

Bennie Baker, 73, Long-time Lance Creek resident died at the family home at 7:30 p.m. Monday following a brief illness.

Services were held from the Peet Chapel in Lusk at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Manville Cemetery.

Angus Bennie Baker was born February 25, 1890 in Florence, Kans., a son of Angus Bennie and Clara Baker. When 13, he moved to this area with his family.

On July 5, 1910, he was married to May Willson of Manville at Harrison. The couple homesteaded south of Lance Creek. They were the parents of four children; Billie, Fern, Verna and James. Mr. Baker was a government hunter and trapper most of his life. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of Lusk Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers were Bill Nuttall, John Norton, Jack Hammond, Ray Austin, Andy Neilson and Lee Moore.

Survivors include his wife; May; three daughters; Mrs. Elmer (Billie) Nelson of Red Bird, Mrs. Burt (Verna) Baker of Boulder, Wyo. and Mrs. L. W. (Fern) Almaeda of Rawlins; a niece, Mrs. Ione Stotts of Boulder, Wyo. eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son James, a brother, a sister and his parents.

The community expresses its deepest sympathy.
