Rosemary Boatright Smith

Rosemary Boatright Smith passed away at her home in Los Lunas. Rosemary was born April 25, 1930 and was raised in Niobrara County, Wyoming. She was the daughter of John E. Boatright who homesteaded in Lance Creek, Wyoming along with his wife Grace Barton. She always said she was the product of an ole timey cowboy and a schoolmarm from the east. Rosemary attended various one room country schools, with her mother as her teacher. She graduated from high school in Lusk. On Oct. 13, 1951 she married James W. Smith in Worland, Wyo. They moved to Albuquerque in 1963 and to Los Lunas in 1970. She was preceded in death by her father and her mother. She leaves behind her husband, James William of the family home; one son, Jay Dee and wife, Becky of Bosque, N.M.; two daughters, Lori S. Cain and her husband, John of Mission, Texas and Stacie S. Smith of the family home; and three granddaughters, Jenniffer L. Banta of Los Lunas, Sandy Marie Smith of Bosque, N.M. and Emily Grace Cain of Mission, Texas. She also leaves one sister, Kay Miller of Casper; and two nieces, Jodi Green and Kathi Pasterski, both of Casper.

There will be a viewing on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel and Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M. at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bob Strong, Lester Paris, Riley Paris, Larry Booker, Walt Jackson, Hugh Peaden, Richard Davis and Larry Claycomb. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, in charge of arrangements.
