Taubert Service Held Tuesday PM

Curt William Taubert, 77, who came from Germany to be a cowboy in Wyoming in 1909, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walt Missel in Casper.

Born in the province of Thuringen on July 7, 1890, Mr. Taubert set out for the U. S. in 1907, when he jumped ship in New York. He worked on Staten Island for a while in a casino and as a sparring partner.

But he was headed to the West, and soon he was in Okalahoma, then western Nebraska and Wyoming. He was a rider for the P. Ranch in Goshen Hole, trailing cattle from the Bay State Ranch, near the present Mitchell, Neb.

In 1910 he moved on to the Rawhide Buttes country, riding range for the Red Cloud Cattle Co., the 0-10-Bar, the 9 Bar and the JM Cattle Co. The JM outfit made him manager of the JM Lumber Co., and he began a long business career.

Surviving are his daughter; a son, Louis W. Taubert of Casper; a sister Mrs. Frieda Cziaka in Germany and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Fort Laramie Community Presbyterian Church on Tuesday.
