H. J. Templeton Dies; Funeral This Thursday

Harmon Johnson Templeton, 78, Lusk, died Monday March 29, at Niobrara County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held this Thursday at the Peet Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Robert Boutwell will officiate.

He was born to Henry Clay and Margaret Ann Johnson Templeton at Silas, Ind., September 22, 1892. He lived in Hartford City, Ind., until he completed high school.

He married Nellie Opal Smith, October 15, 1913. The couple moved to Wyoming August 16, 1915, and Lance Creek October 11, 1919. In August of 1928 he moved to Lusk. He operated a grocery and general merchandise business in Niobrara County until June of 1944. The couple operated Lakeside Fishing Lodge on Fremont Lake, Pinedale, Wyo., until 1957 when he retired.

He had no church affiliation but was on financial committees and was instrumental in building the Congregational Church in 1932. Mr. Templeton was a charter member of Elks Lodge No. 1797.

Life-long friends say, "In his business life his integrity, honest business practice and friendships were unquestioned." He always enjoyed the outdoors and was an ardent fisherman."

Survivors include his widow Opal and son Robert C. Templeton of Lusk; a daughter Mrs. M. H. (Louanne) Mills, Los Altos, Calif.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Larry (Jo Ann) Whitten, Denver; Mrs. Thomas (Lana Kaye) Day, Boulder; Thomas R. Templeton, Lusk, student at the University of Wyoming; Robert, Richard, and Nancy Mills, Los Altos; two great-grandchildren, Cynthia and Lisa Meka of Boulder; two sisters, Mrs. Loomis Dorsey, LaPorte, Ind., and Mrs. Alpha Richardson, Miami, Fla.; two brothers, Erwa Templeton, Fremont, Neb., and Harry Templeton, Haden Lake, Idaho.
