Guy Ezra Baker

Memorial service for long-time area resident, Guy Baker, will be held this Friday, June 25 at 2 p.m. at Peet Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Henry Babis will officiate.

Guy Ezra Baker was born June 8, 1898 in Kansas the son of George and Cora Baker. He died June 20, 1982 at the Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Mr. Baker grew up and attended schools in Kansas and Iowa before moving to Lance Creek in 1919. He homesteaded near Lance Creek in 1922 making his home there until 1972 when he retired and moved to Douglas. In 1975 he moved to Lingle where he lived until 1979, when he entered the Nursing Home.

On November 27, 1928 he was married to Ardice Thompson at Lusk. He was a member of the Stockgrowers Association and the National Rifle Association.

Music will be by Minerva Watson, organist. Mark Lohr will sing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Active bearers will be George Riehle, Wayne Riehle, Fred Ward, Mike Kant, Charles Robinson and Robert Emery. Interment will be in Lusk Cemetery.

Baker was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one infant son.

He is survived by his wife of Lingle; two sons; Jim of Lance Creek and Bob of Hawk Springs; one daughter Judy Michaud of Spokane, Wash.; three brothers; George of Riverton, Roy of Douglas, and Harry of Hat Creek; 4 sisters. Bessie Hotz, Wymore, Nebr.; Harriet Slagle, Newcastle, Emily Shelden, Douglas and Stella Kenton, Wickenburg, AZ.; 7 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Niobrara Nursing Home.
