Leif H. Thompson

Leif H. Thompson, 58, of Philo, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday February 14, 2002, at home. Memorial services were held at 3:30 P.M on Sunday, February 17, 2002, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1203 W. Green St., Urbana. Fellowship with the family was held after the service. Freese Funeral Home, Sidney, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thompson was born December 6, 1942, at Chadron, Nebraska, a son of Russell and Mary Jo (Norman) Thompson. He married Brenda Templeton on July 10, 1971, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sasha Thompson Blackford (John Blackford) of Lakeville, Minnesota and Allie Thompson White (Christian White) of Rockford; his mother of Lusk, Wyoming; three brothers, Cody Thompson of Lusk, Tom Thompson of Whitney, Nebraska and Link Thompson of Gordon, Nebraska; and a sister, Roxanne Sharp of Lusk.

Mr. Thompson retired in 1999 from the University of Illinois as a professor in the animal science department. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Urbana. He studied at the University of Wyoming and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska. He received a master's degree and a doctorate in reproductive physiology at North Carolina State University.
