Bernard Francis Thon

Bernard Thon, 69, of Lusk, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1987 at the Veteran's Hospital in Prescott, AZ. Services were Friday, Feb. 20 in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Scott Grimshaw officiating. Burial was in Lusk Cemetery.

Mr. Thon was born Aug. 5, 1917 in Lusk, the son of Anna May and Jalmer Thon. He was a lifelong resident of Niobrara County.

He married Roberta "Bettye" Rockriver in Olympia, WA on Oct. 4, 1942.

A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army from 1939-45, in the Middle Eastern Theater. After the war, he worked for Kirwin-Nielsen Saddlery and then ranched in the Keeline area. In 1959, he moved to Lusk, working for Hollon Construction and later establishing his own painting and carpet cleaning business.

He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Baptist Church, all in Lusk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Roger, and two infant grand-daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye of Lusk; two sons, Robert of Bagdad, AZ and Ronald of Riverton; two brothers, Johnnie of Lusk and Elmer of Exeter, MO; one sister, Vesta Thomas of Lusk; one grandson and three granddaughters.

Memorials to the Wyoming Crippled Children's Society would be appreciated by the family.
