Joe M. Vaughan

Services for Joe M. Vaughan, 77, were held Monday, July 22, 1991, at Peet Mortuary with Rev. Allen Kallenbach officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Vaughan died Friday, July 19, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D. He was born Dec. 8, 1913, in Chadron, Neb., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Vaughan. The family moved to Lance Creek where Joe attended school. He also attended school in Manville.

He worked as a truck driver for Continental Oil for 35 years until he retired and moved to Lusk. He then served as a deputy sheriff and also on the Lusk Police Force under Harold Rogers. During World War II, he served in the Army.

Vaughan loved hunting, fishing and traveling.

On Aug. 3, 1981 he married Irene Reineg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Irene, of Lusk; a sister-in-law, Edith McGinnis, of Lusk; a sister in Alaska and several nieces and nephews.

For those who want, memorials to the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D., will be appreciated by the family.
