Lorraine Wilson Wasserburger

The vigil service for Lorraine Wilson Wasserburger will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 also at St. Leo's with Reverend Patrick Shea officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Wasserburger passed away Monday, January 4 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk.

She was born in Douglas, Wyoming November 2, 1931 to David F. Wilson and Grace (Richardson) Wilson.

Her family moved to Lusk in 1939 where her parents operated D. F. Wilson Plumbing and Heating. Lorraine graduated from Lusk High School in 1950. She married Henry L. Wasserburger on September 12, 1951.

They raised five children on the family ranch 30 miles north of Lusk.

Lorraine love to travel and had recently been to Alaska and Europe where she received the Papal Blessing and was touched by Pope John Paul.

Most recently she had been to Wisconsin to witness her oldest grandchild's wedding. Her biggest joy was helping raise and be a part of her grandchildren's lives.

Football, cross country, wrestling, basketball, track, children's choir and dance recitals were a part of her every day life.

Lorraine's biggest delight was a good report card. Her other love was cards; she loved a rousing game of bridge with family and friends.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic church, P.E.O. Chapter 1 Niobrara Republican Women, Niobrara County Cowbells and several bridge clubs.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Henry; four sons, Jerry of Byers, Colo.; J. D. and Tom of Lusk; Jeff of Gillette and one special grandson, Hank of Denver; one daughter, Jolene Staskal of Two Rivers, Wis.; three sisters, Davenne Glandt, Louise Hasson and Ellen Powers and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one daughter-in-law.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

Bader Funeral Home of Lusk is in charge of arrangements.
