Funeral services for Jacob Wasserburger, 97, who died June 30, were held Friday, July 3, at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Harrison.
Father Robert O'Neill offered the Requiem High Mass at 10:00 a.m. Members from the Montrose and Harrison choirs sang. Burial was at the Montrose Cemetery where Father John Madsen of St. John's Parish, Crawford, read the graveside prayers. Pallbearers were Hubert Wasserburger, Martin Wasserburger, Charlie Wasserburger, Andrew Serres, Harry Serres, Walter Meckem.
Mr. Wasserburger died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Serres. He made his home there for the past several years.
Jacob Wasserburger, the son of Gerald Wasserburger and Charlotte Weiheimer was born at West Bend, Wis., October 25, 1866. At the age of 20 he came to Sioux County, Neb., where he homesteaded and was an active rancher for 56 years.
He married Anna Catherine Marking at Montrose October 8, 1894. Fourteen children were born to them. His wife died November 27, 1952.
Surviving are 12 children: Henry and John of Hat Creek, Wyo.; Mrs. W. R. Baker, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. H. J. Stanley, Lovell, Wyo.; Mrs. H. W. Sherrick, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. C. R. Oschger, Chicago; Mrs. E. L. Shackelford, Ontario, Calif.; Mrs. C. F. Kirkham, Powell, Wyo.; Mrs. H. J. Barrett, Aberdeen, Ida.; Mrs. E. J. Serres, Harrison; Mrs. J. R. Broderick, Washington, D.C.; George Wasserburger, Harrison.
There are 40 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
