Funeral Mass Held for John Wasserburger

Funeral mass was said for John J. Wasserburger, 71, last Thursday morning from St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk with Father Cornelius O'Connor officiating. Mr. Wasserburger died October 29, in a Denver hospital following an illness of three months.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery. Casket bearers were Russell Thompson, Ray Reed, Jake Davies, Hobart Cockreham, Bill McDaniel and Art Schnose.

John J. Wasserburger was born to Jacob and Anna Wasserburger, October 25, 1896. His early life was spent on his father's ranch in Sioux County, Nebr. He attended the public schools of that county.

In 1934 he married Katherine A. Daly, who survives him. They were the parents of three sons, also surviving; James of Hat Creek, John of Cheyenne and Daniel who is attending Casper College. Other survivors includes; two brothers, Henry of Hat Creek, George of Harrison; nine sisters, Catherine Baker, Clara Sherrick, both of Seattle; Barbara Stanley, Lovell, Wyo.; Rose Oschger, Chicago; Helen Schackelford, Ida Falls, Ida; Hilda Barrett, Aberdeen, Ida.; Martilda Serres, Harrison; Gertrude Kirkham, Powell, Wyo.; Alma Broderick, Washington, D.C.

His parents died previously.

John thoroughly enjoyed his work as a rancher. He served on the board of directors of the Niobrara Electric Association for 20 years and served as secretary-treasurer for several years. He took great pride in promoting the activities in his community.
