Katherine A. Wasserburger

Rosary services for Katherine A. Wasserburger, age 79, were at 7:00 p.m. at the Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk. The funeral mass was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Shea officiating. Burial followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Wasserburger died Monday, December 26, 1988, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denver. She was born February 4, 1909, at Albion, Nebraska, the daughter of Irish immigrants Dennis and Rose Daly. She attended schools in Nebraska. Following graduation from high school she taught school until her marriage to John Jacob Wasserburger on August 27, 1934, at Raeville, Nebraska. They lived in Nebraska for two years and moved to Wyoming in 1936 and began ranching in northern Niobrara County.

In 1938 they purchased the home ranch where Mrs. Wasserburger was still residing at the time of her death. After the death of her husband in 1967, Katherine received her degree and returned to teaching. She taught schools in Niobrara County and in Nebraska. She retired in 1978 and made her home on the family ranch.

She was a member of St. Leo's Altar and Rosary Society, the Retired Teachers' Association, and the Pioneer Senior Homemaker's Club.

Survivors include three sons, James Wasserburger of the family ranch north of Lusk, John Wasserburger of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Daniel "Mike" Wasserburger of Gillette; two sisters, Margaret Anderson of Portland, Oregon, and Mabel Corkle of Tilden, Nebraska; two brothers, John Daly of Omaha, Nebraska, and Daniel Daly of Los Angeles, California; four grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and three sisters.
