Garry Douglas Paisley

Graveside services for Garry Douglas Paisley, 86, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland with Pastor Delbert Dick officiating and with full military honors accorded.

Mr. Paisley, a resident of Wheatland died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Platte county Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

He was born the second of four children to A.D. and Elsie (Humphreys) Paisley on July 10, 1920 in Node. He was reared and educated in Node and Lusk and graduated from Lusk High School in 1938. He worked on the family ranch prior to entering the United States Army. He served during World War II, and was a combat engineer in Africa and Italy from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was married to Ruth Maxine Jordon on July 10, 1947 in Wheatland. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, and then worked in the road construction business. He owned and operated his own stripping company for several years and retired in 1986. He and Maxine spent their retirement years in Wheatland. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Wheatland; daughter, Brenda Zimmerman of Nampa, Idaho; sisters, Wyoma Simpsen of Van Tassell and Donna Peterson of Torrington; two grandsons, Cody Zimmerman of Cheyenne and Bran Zimmerman of Meridian, Idaho; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rich Paisley.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eric Peterson, Rick Paisley, Warren Schrofel, Steve Bonner, Sam Wade and Ed Perring.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 8-10 a.m.

A memorial to the American Cancer Society in care of Ellie Orr, 1054 Pine Street, Wheatland, WY, would be appreciated by the family.

The Gorman Funeral Home - Platte Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of the arrangements.
