Martha Bruegger

Services for Martha Bruegger, age 84, will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk with Rev. Bradley Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery. Mrs. Bruegger died Tuesday evening, April 17, at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk. Memorials to either the Niobrara Ambulance Service or the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital will be appreciated by the family. Peet Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Bruegger was born in Frutigen, Switzerland, September 21, 1905. She was the third child born to Gottlieb and Susanna Stoller. She was educated on Reinisch near her home and following her formal education she attended tailoring school in French Switzerland.

She married Fred Bruegger December 12, 1925 in Frutigen. She came to America in May 1926 to ranch with her husband in the Node community. From this union eight children were born, John, Madeline, Margarete Martha, Anna Mae, Mary Rose, Winnifred, Fred Arnold, and Edward Charles. In 1960 she moved permanently to her home on South Linn in Lusk. She liked to grow flowers and entertain family and friends. She was active in the Node Extension Homemakers Club, the Fancy Farmers Garden Club, the Lutheran Ladies Aid, the Lusk Federated Woman's Club and the Niobrara Republican Woman's Club. She gave generously to many charities around the country. She believed strongly that what you gave you got back in return.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John; two brothers, Gottlieb and Jacob; two sisters Hedy and Annie Sorg; and two grandchildren, David Bruegger and Twila Grote; and her husband who passed away October 16, 1966.

Martha passed away April 17 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

She will be greatly missed by her many friends, children, 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
