Caleb Henrick Hanson, age 12, went to be with our Lord on Aug. 16, 2005 at the Hanson Family Ranch at Roxson, Wyo. Caleb had lived at the family ranch for the last year and fell while playing on our beloved sand rocks, one of his favorite locations on the ranch he loved. His time with us was cut short, yet his presence in our lives had great impact.

Caleb was born July 27, 1993 in Spokane, Wash. He lived near Colfax, Wash. and attended Jennings Elementary School in Colfax prior to moving to Newcastle where he attended Newcastle Elementary School. Caleb was intellectually gifted and frequently honored for outstanding citizenship and exemplary school work. Caleb loved school and will be greatly missed by his friends, classmates and teachers.

Caleb had many interests, but above all he enjoyed dinosaurs and anything pertaining to dinosaurs. The most accurate way to describe Caleb is with the following two words; "Dinosaur Freak". He spent hours roaming the ranch in search of fossils and other treasures, and he was able to participate in an organized paleontologic dig at the family ranch for the last two years. During his time digging with experts and students in the field, he earned their respect and admiration for his limitless knowledge of dinosaurs and his endless passion for these wonderful creatures. He was chosen by the scientists he worked with to receive their annual Golden Hammer of Outstanding Paleontologist for 2005 Award in recognition of his determination, perseverance, and love of bone excavation. In fact, Caleb's greatest goal in life was to become a paleontologist. Caleb also loved reading, playing games, playing soccer and badminton, and riding his motorbike. He spent hours drawing detailed illustrations of dinosaurs, writing incredibly creative stories and books, and making elaborate Lego creations.

Caleb was a kind gentle soul who knew no enemies and was loved by all who knew him. Caleb's presence will be forever missed by his parents, Dennis and Lanae Hanson and sister Lynnell Hanson, Newcastle; grandfather Al Bezdicek, St. John, Wash.; grandmother Thelma Hanson, Elllensburg, Wash.; grandfather Neil Hanson, Colfax, Wash.; great grandparents Glenn and Phyllis Hanson, Newcastle; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Caleb was preceded in death by his loving grandmother Loretta Bezdicek, who is certainly holding him now in her arms as they watch over us from above.
