Funeral of Charles Zerbst Held at Newcastle Sat.

Funeral services for Charles Richard Zerbst, 81, who died Feb. 5 at the Newcastle Hospital, were held from the Newcastle Mortuary Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.

The services were conducted by the Rev. Kenneth H. Rice and burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Tex Johnson, Wayne Collins, Glenn Hanson, Everett Thomas, Chris Christensen, and Lawrence Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers were J.E. (Cuz) Oliver, Tom Wilson, Hans Meng, Eph Hogg, Ray Harris and W.O. Hanson.

He was born near Berlin, Germany Feb. 10, 1870, the son of Agusta and Frederick Zerbst. He came to America with his parents at the age of ten and they settled near Wisner, Nebr. In 1886 they moved to Sioux county, Nebr., where they resided until 1900.

Charles came to Wyoming in 1900 and homesteaded on Snyder Creek in Niobrara County where he has always been actively engaged in the stock raising business and where he resided until the time of his death.

Due to his advanced years, he made his home with his son, James, and family for the past ten years, and was associated with his sons in the stock raising business.

He was married to Helen Julia Gieselman of Omaha, Nebr., on June 9, 1909 at Omaha. She died Feb. 28, 1926.

Their three children, William, Richard, Mrs. Pat Marchant, and James, all reside in the Snyder area with the address of Newcastle. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. His parents and three brothers, Paul, Fred, and Frank, and one sister Anne Shepherd, have previously died.
