Dan Chalfant Dies Friday Afternoon
Dan Chalfant, 77, and a long time resident of Wyoming, died suddenly at his home near Torrington Friday afternoon, Dec. 14.
Mr. Chalfant had not been well for some time and had recently been a patient in the Torrington hospital but seemed much improved and returned home where he died suddenly a few days later.
He was born at Union, Nebr., and came to Wyoming as a young man where he was foreman on the Nine Bar Ranch, which was owned by his brother-in-law, Wesley Wolfe.
Later he bought a place of his own near Jay Em which he operated until about three years ago when he retired and moved to Torrington.
Funeral services were conducted from the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. R.O. McCaslin officiating.
Burial services were conducted by the Odd Fellows Lodge and interment was at the Valley View Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha, a brother, John Chalfant of Burlington, Colo., and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Johnston of Spearfish, S.D., and Mrs. Hattie Nichols of Sioux Falls, S.D.
A brother, Hugh Chalfant, of Jay Em, died several years ago and a sister, Mrs. Alice Wolfe of Jay Em, passed away a couple of months ago.
