George Donald McLain
George Donald McLain, at the age of 86, of Seattle, passed away Oct. 12, 2007.
Don was born on Nov. 10, 1920 at Royal, Neb., the son of George Dewey McLain and Lillith (Hamilton) McLain. He attended school in Royal and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1941. He was a radio operator for the duration of World War II.
He returned from the service in 1945 and spent most of his life in Seattle, where he worked 35 years at the Fisher's Flour Mill retiring in 1982. He purchased his parent's ranch seven miles south of Lusk where he spent the summers. In the fall he would help his brother harvest in Plainview, Neb.
Don married Annie McIver in the summer of 1948 and to this union one child was born, George Daniel McLain. They celebrated 42 years of marriage when his wife passed onto heaven in 1990.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Janice and four grandchildren all of Seattle, and one brother, Dr. Gordon McLain of Scottsbluff and Plainview, Neb. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
