Cyrus Blair, Early Day Resident, Dies In Willcox, Ariz.

Cyrus Blair, 79, an early day resident in Niobrara County died October 31 at Willcox, Ariz. Services were held November 5 at Willcox.

Cyrus Clinton Blair was born at Welch Indian Territory, Okla., November 14, 1894 to Arthur L. and Martha Hart Blair.

He came with his family to Lusk in 1901 and the Blairs lived in and around Lusk until 1912 when they moved to an irrigated farm near Torrington.

In 1917 he went with the first volunteer group from Wyoming to serve in World War I. Upon his return from the service he worked around Lusk and Kaycee. He settled on the American Cattle Ranch near Kaycee, became its owner and operated it until his retirement following which he moved to Buffalo.

Blair served on the Board of Commissioners for Johnson County for many years and was also mayor of Buffalo. He was a member of the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission and the Trails and Markers Commission. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Sheridan Elks and Masonic Lodge at Buffalo.

He married Lillian Beebe at Willcox, Ariz., in June of 1961 and made his home at Willcox since that time.

Survivors include his wife, two brothers, Harry of Kennewick, Wash., Fred of Whites Creek, Tenn., three sisters, Mrs. Florence Harris of Jay Em, Mrs. Artie Crane of Balboa, Panama, and Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Elma, Wash. His parents, five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
