Former employee here dies Sun.

This community extends deepest sympathy to the family of Van Hank who died in Lusk Sunday. He worked in this area for several years for the late Cliff Mangis.

Van Hank, Lusk resident 32 years, dies


Funeral service for Van Hank, Lusk, will be held this Thursday afternoon. He died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital Sunday following a heart attack.

Mr. and Mrs. Van Hank came to Lusk in 1946 and he established his own trucking business here driving for Safeway, R. B. Wilson and later hauling oil field supplies for Mangus Company. He was a truck driver for over 36 years.

He served as deputy sheriff here in 1948 and then worked on the Boyles Ranch. From 1961 until retirement in March of 1977 he was employed by the State of Wyoming at the port of entry.

The Rev. Frank Bozart will officiate at the funeral this Thursday afternoon at Peet Mortuary Chapel at 2:00. Mrs. Minerva Watson, organist, will accompany Mark Lohr, soloist, who will sing "The Lord's Prayer" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee."

Pallbearers will be Duane Verley, Bob Zerbe, Gene Bryson, Gene Martin, Dale Myers and Blake Ford. Interment will be in the Lusk cemetery.

Memorials are being made to the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital or Niobrara County Nursing Home.

Van. H. Hank was born March 19, 1912, at Osceola, Neb., the son of Joseph G. and Myrtle B. Hank. He attended schools in Grand Island, Neb. On June 5, 1945, he and Vivian E. Boyles were married. They lived in Casper until they moved to Lusk.

He is survived by his widow Vivian of the family home in Lusk; three sons, Gaylord of Grand Island, Jerry of Tampa, Fla., and Darwin of Casper; two daughters, Lea Ann of Lusk and Janet of Grand Island; two brothers, Harry of Grand Island and Ray of Longmont, Colo; a sister Hazel Sidwell of Grand Island and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
