Lusk resident Bernard Siglinger died Sunday at Niobrara County memorial Hospital. He was 81.
A native of Beverly, Neb., Mr. Siglinger was the child of Herbert and Anna McCourtney Siglinger.
The family moved to Erie, Colo., in 1910 and about a year later to Lyons, Colo.
After he was graduated from the Lyons public school in 1913, Mr. Siglinger became a ditch rider for the Supply Ditch.
He married Violet Walker in 1919 at Lyons, and they moved to Mead, Colo., where Mr. Siglinger also worked as a ditch rider. In 1929 they moved to Hygiene, Colo., where Mr. Siglinger was ditch superintendent for Oligarchy Ditch Co.
In 1933 they moved to Loveland, Colo., and in 1945 they came to Cheyenne, where Mr. Siglinger worked as a Safeway clerk.
They came to Lusk in 1958, and Mr. Siglinger worked at the Safeway Store here until his retirement in 1963.
He and Mrs. Siglinger celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last September.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Siglinger is survived by four children, Bernard Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Keith Duane of LaPort, Ind., Shirley Violet Kellenberger of Merrillville, Ind., and Gloria Ann Smith of Fremont, Calif.; two brothers, Ray of Longmont, Colo., and Roy of Boulder; a sister, Ruby Niezgocki of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Maynard Lund will officiate at a Thursday service at 10 a.m. at Peet Mortuary.
Music will be performed by Edna DeCastro, organist, and Marilyn Cockreham, soloist. Songs will be "Beyond the Sunset" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand."
Burial will follow at Wyoming Memorial Gardens in Cheyenne.
The family would prefer memorials to the heart or lung associations.
