E. E. Miller, Former Niobrara Teacher, Dies

Word of the death of Edwin E. Miller, former teacher in the Lusk and Manville schools, has been received here.

Mr. Miller homesteaded south of Lusk about 1907 and while living on his homestead became superintendent of the Lusk schools and later of Manville. His wife died while they were living here, leaving him with five small children. In 1917 he moved to Denver and later remarried.

He died Monday, June 4, 1951, in the General Rose Memorial HOspital in Denver at the age of 72 an services were held the following Thursday.

Born Dec. 19, 1879 in York, Nebr., he attended schools and college there and after graduation became a teacher. After moving to Denver he was appointed didrector of printing at the state industrial school for boys in Golden. He held that position until 1930 when he started mining classes at the Windsor Hotel for unemployed miners.

He taught at Opportunity School from 1934 to 1943 when he was named to the public utilities commission, a position he held until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Skinner, of Ogallala, Nebr., and four sons, Harold of Ogallala, Clair of Bickelton, Wash.; Robert of Glendale, Ariz., and George of Golden, Colo., and 11 grandchildren.
