George Brooks, Early Niobraran, Dies in Colorado

George Brooks, early resident of Niobrara County, died at Brush, Colo. Thursday, April 5, following a heart attack. Funeral services were held there Saturday at 10:00 in the morning and the body was taken to Bird City, Kan. for burial.

George Ernest Brooks was born near Creston, Iowa Jan. 3, 1878, the second son of William Luther and Sadie J. Brooks. He came with his parents to Manville, Wyo. in February, 1888 and spent much of his life in Niobrara County though he also lived some time in several
other states. For several years he served Niobrara County as Rawleigh dealer and made many friends throughout the county.

Leaving here in 1945 he spent some time in LaGrande, Ore. For the past year and a half he has made his home at Brush, Colo. He was in the Rawleigh business there, had built up a good business and had made many friends there.

He leaves his wife, a daughter, Donnis Christensen of Wisner, Nebr.; two brothers, Frank and Bill of Keeline; two nephews, Everette Brooks of Keeline and Lester Brooks of Lusk; and three nieces, Gertrude O'Neill, Boulder, Colo., Verona Kelley of Norfolk, Va. and Julie Burkett of Winters, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Brooks and Bill Brooks drove to Brush Friday, returning Saturday night, and Everette Brooks flew to Brush to attend the funeral.
